Best Laptops and PCs for 2010

Computers have become hubs of communication, entertainment and learning for millions of people around the world and each new year brings new technologies along with it to excite those with a passion for PCs. This list of the laptops and PCs that could be the ones to watch in 2010 will help you decide which is right for you, or could simply get you salivating with envy.

Apple iMac

The brand new version of the Apple iMac will sell like hotcakes. It still sticks with the all in one design of its predecessors, but is now available with either a 21 inch or a 27 inch display. What is special about the new screen is that it uses LED backlighting technology, which not only saves energy but allows it to be incredibly slim despite its advanced internal hardware. The main downside of the new iMac is of course its cost, but all Apple products have premium pricing.

Asus UL30A-X5

Slim laptops are not that unusual, but this Asus model has one of the sleekest designs on the market. It comes with Windows 7 preinstalled and it sports a 13.3 inch screen which means it is bigger than a netbook but smaller than a full-sized note book. The X5 is also able to boast a whopping 12 hours of battery life, which means it can stay away from the plug longer than most of its major rivals.

Alienware Aurora ALX

If you are a gamer then you will already be aware of the Alienware brand and its propensity for incredibly fast desktop computing. The ALX is the most powerful microATX system that has ever been built by the firm and its stats sheet reads like a who`s who of performance hardware. It has an Intel i7 processor, 2 NVIDIA graphics cards in SLI, 6GB of RAM and 1TB of storage space in a RAID configuration. If that all sounds a little confusing, just know that it is very impressive considering the small form factor.

Apple MacBook

This is the second Apple product on the list, but it is impossible to ignore the quality and beauty of this laptop. Residing in the 13.3 inch screen size sweet spot, the MacBook has a dual core Intel processor and the latest version of Apple`s operating system installed and ready to go. Those who have never used a Mac before will take a little time to get used to the differences, but if you have a passion for art, design and editing most agree that a MacBook is the best portable solution.

Acer Aspire G770

If you want high performance gaming on a budget then any of the Acer gaming range will suit, but the G770 is the current king of this category. With a crazy looking case design that would fit in well on the set of a sci-fi movie, liquid cooled graphics cards and a multi-core processor, the G770 gets off to a good start. You can add 8GB of DDR3 RAM which will chew through the most strenuous of games and programs and Windows 7 makes DirectX 11 graphics available. With a cheap broadband connection you could be pwning n00bs in glorious HD.
