Here are some tips to consider if you are thinking of buying a wood pellet Boiler.

When you want to buy a wood pellet boiler or a stove you have already made a wise decision as far as your pocket book is concerned.

Additionally:

• Your fuel is one of the cheapest in the market.
• The fuel is a recycled product
• It is Biomass meaning that it is a renewable green source of energy
• Prevents over crowding of land fills
• It is 85% or more efficient.
• Due to its high efficiency the emissions are very much less
• Dependence on unstable petroleum resources is minimized

However there are a few things you have to consider at the same time;
For example:
• You must not over size your stove or Boiler!

o The best man to advise you in this regard is undoubtedly a reputed boiler dealer. But again it is advisable to know why it is so. When you over size your boiler for a particular space you assume the bigger is better concept and believe you can control the heat out put. It is true. However when one run an Oversized Wood Pellet boiler the tendency is to over heat the space. You don’t want that to happen. So you burn the fire at Low Smolder there by lowering the over all efficiency. It also leads to increase in toxic gas emissions.

o A rule of thumb is as follows:
A stove with a rated capacity of 60000 but (17,572 w) is suitable for a home of floor area 2000 ft2 (186 m2).

A stove with a rated capacity of 42000 but (12,300 w) is suitable for a home of floor area 1200 ft2 (111 m2).

• Your Wood Pellets do not necessarily have to be from Saw Dust.

o In the USA the abundance of Biomass is varied in different localities. Depending on this the biomass for pellets can be Nut Shells, Corn Kernels, small wood chips, Barley, Beet Pulp, Sun flower, Dried Cherry Pits and Soy Beans! While the ash content may be high with these you have a good assurance of fuel availability.(Some times slight modification is recommended by the manufacturers)

Another thing you have to bear in mind is that Alternative Energy investments get you a few concessions from several government organizations such as tax rebates, subsidies etc.some of which may vary from time to time. Your Equipment supplier is in a better position to advise you on these matters which you may have to get confirmed from the relevant authorities.

Now that the Crude price has dropped below $50 mark some may feel little hesitant about going for a Wood Pellet Boiler or a Stove. The price of the same barrel cost only US$ 16 a few years back .With the dwindling resources and China and India buying hectically no OPEC member has to rattle a saber to upset the supplies and the prices again. Investment in one Wood Pellet Boiler may save few hundreds of Euros for you by the end of the heating season.
