Car alarms provide the required safety for the car to prevent theft of any items or the vehicle itself.
When safety of the car is compromised, these alarms send out a loud sound usually in form of a siren that
can alert the owner about the situation. The alarm sound can be a kind of pre-recorded warning of the verbal nature
or the horn of car that sends out loud noise. Once the alarm is triggered, the protection of the car is ensured by
necessary warning through a paging system or interruption of the electrical circuits of the car causing it to stop
dead without allowing it to start at all. Car alarms are kind of theft protection devices that should not be thought of as
immobilizers though the purpose of such devices is to prevent any sort of harm to the vehicle through theft.
The car alarms trigger a loud noise whereas the immobilizer fails to offer any kind of loud noise or visual form of
theft deterrence signal.
Types of Car Alarms
The car alarms are of two types like the OEM type and the aftermarket type. The OEM car alarms are built inside the car in a factory whereas the aftermarket car alarms can be put into the car at any time in the future as required by the car owner. The aftermarket alarms can be purchased as and when required to ensure necessary safety for the car. These alarms of either type offer a mix of features. The remote car alarms have a radio receiver for wireless control of the alarm. These alarms have different sensors attached to it so that it can prevent theft detection. Car alarms of the remote type also consist of motion detectors and immobilizers. The keyless type car alarms have a great cryptography authentication along with wireless USB, Motion detector, Radio receiver, and Immobilizer.
OEM Car Alarms
The OEM Car alarms are typically made in such a way that they can be activated or deactivated through keyless entry
remote of the car. In case of some cars, the alarm is activated once the power door lock switch is pressed.
Once the ignition is turned on,
there is a possibility that the alarm will deactivate for certain devices.
These OEM alarms are mainly used for monitoring of entry parts such as doors or back unit for the car.
This is to prevent any sort of unauthorized entry into the vehicle. This whole system is setup with the help of pin,
mercury, or micro switches that has been successfully integrated into a latch. In case of other door lock mechanisms,
the switches have been built into the door. Certain car alarms have shock sensors that helps trigger the OEM alarms
on sufficient impact.
Aftermarket Car Alarms
In case of aftermarket car alarms, the whole device can be easily activated or deactivated with the help of remotes.
